Best Time of My Life

By Geovanna Cedeño in 12/11/2015

Hi guys, my name is Geovanna. I’m an Exchange student from Equator and I’d like to share with you a bit of my experience in my beloved Brazil. Being only 15 years old, I was brave enough to talk my mother into letting me do an Exchange program in Brazil and she gladly said yes, but can you understand what it feels like traveling abroad without knowing anybody? I was afraid, because I didn’t know how Brazilians were or how school would be like. I knew that everything would change. Going abroad for an Exchange program is the greatest experience that you could have, because besides learning a new language, you get to know many new people, make lifetime friendships, you’ll have coordinators that will be there for you whenever you need them, as they become friends. And mostly important, there’s our host family. I’ll tell you this: I had the best host family. They’ve made my life more beautiful, as they didn’t treat me as a foreigner living in their house. No. For them, I was another daughter, another sister, a real part of the family. Of course not everything is perfect. There are also some difficult situations throughout the year. But in order to solve these issues, you have to speak honestly, be mature to take decisions. Well, time flew. I’m back in my home country now and you have no idea how much I miss Brazil. I encourage everyone to do an Exchange program in São Luís, have some stories to tell and make new friends.
